In the Colpitts Oscillator the feedback loop is a capacitive divider as shown in figure bellow. The frequency also depends on the LC circuit and the next formula is used to calculations.

Application example:

Calculate the runing frequency of a Colpitts Oscillator where the LC circuit is formed by a 100 pF capacitor and a 100 µH coil.

 

Data:

L = 100 µH

C = 100 pF

f = ?
