This circuit uses damped oscillations to test an inductor. It can also be used to find the inductance of an inductor. The function generator is adjusted to source a 50 Hz x 10 V square signal.The damping factor is adjusted by P1. The circuit used in the simulation is in figure 1.

Figure 2 shows the wave shape in the circuit for a good inductor as displayed by the virtual oscilloscope of the Multisim.
