Division of a digital signal up to 4098 can be done using the 4040 IC as shown in Figure bellow. The count advances one count with the positive transition of the clock. Counts higher than 4098 can be done by applying the signals of more than one output to appropriate logic. To reset the circuit [all outputs to 0] put RST to "1”. The maximum input frequency is 8 MHz when the circuit is powered with a power supply of 10 V. See the site for more information about this device.
