Conductance is defined as the inverse of resistance. The first unit assigned to this quantity was the mho (ohm inverted), but now we use the Siemens (S) as unit of conductance. To calculate the conductance from the resistance we use:

Formula 1

G = 1/R

Where:

G is the conductance in siemens (S)

R is the resistance in ohms (Ω)

Derivated Formulas:

Formula 2

R= 1 / G

Application Example:

What is the conductance of a 25-ohm resistor?

Data:

R = 50 Ω

G = ?

Applying Formula 1:

G = 1/50 = 0,02 S
