This circuit is from a 1987 American publication called Electronics Handbook. The circuit can be easily assembled, as all components are common. The sensor is a piezoelectric or crystal microphone and IC1 is a CA3140. IC2 is a 741. Power can be supplied with 9 V voltages from two batteries, as the source is symmetrical.
