The presented circuit provides an output voltage proportional to the input current, according to the formula given next to the diagram. The basic configuration can be applied with other operational amplifiers and the power supply used must be symmetrical. The input current must be of the order of microamperes, or, for operation with higher currents, a shunt must be used.
