The sampling and retention circuits are used in analog to digital converters and in some other applications that involve retaining the amplitude of a signal for a certain time. The sampling command is made by a field effect transistor at the corresponding input. The operational amplifier guarantees a high input impedance for the circuit, which must be powered by a symmetrical source. Field-effect transistors can be of common junction types such as BF245.
