The simple low voltage source that can be used as a battery eliminator, shown in the figure was found in a 1981 publication. The output voltage obtained will basically depend on the transformer used. Thus, for a 4.5 V transformer we will have approximately 6 V output, and for a 7.5 V transformer approximately 9 V output, depending on the load current. A 250 mA or 500 mA transformer will serve to power small appliances. The diodes can be of the type 1N4002, 1N4003, 1N4004 or BY127. Any diode for 50 V x 1 A or more will do.
