The circuit shown in the figure is indicated for alternative sources of energy, such as those obtained from a bicycle dynamo. The dynamo can be coupled to mechanical energy production systems such as waterfalls, windmills, etc. The integrated circuit 7806 must be fitted with a good heat sink and the maximum current obtained at the outlet must not exceed 1 amp. With the presence of the regulator the circuit can safely power small electronic devices such as radios, recorders, etc., without the danger of overloads caused by the fluctuation of voltage that a common dynamo presents when in normal operation. The LED is only meant to indicate that the energy is being produced, and acts as a charge to the circuit when there is nothing connected at its output.
