A four-bit analog-to-digital converter [A/ D or ADC] can be built using one 4066. An 8-bit converter can be designed using two chips. The input network using the resistor determines the steps in the conversion. Figure bellow shows the diagram for this basic converter. Typical values for the resistor are given in the circuit. The resistor connected to the circuit will depend on which switch is turned on. This circuit can be used as part of a digital volume control or a digital power supply. The maximum input frequency for this circuit is 40 MHz.
