"Why when I increase the size of the image to shoot using the zoom does it lose definition?"

When you select the zoom of your cell phone you are using digital zoom, that is, the cell phone selects the portion of the image that should be enlarged and increases the size of the image without increasing the number of pixels, that is, it increases the size of the pixels as well. Thus, we have an image that fills the entire screen, but with fewer pixels than the original image, which reduces the definition. With optical zoom, that is, using a lens, what is done is to magnify the image by optical means so that the sector of the chosen image covers the entire surface of the sensor, thus obtaining the largest number of pixels. Thus, the chosen sector maintains the original definition of the device. Unfortunately, optical zoom is still a feature that we do not have in cell phones, only in cameras. We see its action when the lens advances to modify the size of the image that affects the sensor (ccd).
