“I would like to record a pen drive directly from the phone output of my cell phone. How can I do this / What pins should I connect?”

The pen drives record digital information, that is, the digitized sound and not the sound in the way we apply it in a common headset or amplifier. Thus, there are circuits called CODECs that encode this sound, converting them to digital form. They are right on computers and other equipment that can record music in digital form. We cannot do this with audio signals by transferring them directly to a flash drive and vice versa.
