“I have an electric door that has a lock formed by a pin that holds the top when closed. The lock is not working. How to test?”

This lock consists of a solenoid that is energized when the motor is started, causing the pin to retract and release the gate opening. Failure to actuate may indicate an interruption of the solenoid coil or an interruption of the cable going to it. You can initially check if 220 V reaches the lock connection point when activated. The solenoid test is done by measuring its resistance with the multimeter, which should normally be less than 20 k ohms.
