“I usually use solder paste all the time I will solder or unsolder something. I talked to a friend and he said that it is not good, because the paste is corrosive and can affect the components and the printed circuit itself. What is the truth in this?”

The solder paste has the function of cleaning the welding site, facilitating its adhesion when the part or plate is very oxidized and the weld has difficulty adhering. However, the solder does this through a strong chemical action of its components. This action includes substances that attack the welding site in order to promote cleaning. After using the paste it is very important that the welding or desoldering site be thoroughly cleaned with a hard brush to remove any traces of the paste. A cotton with solvent should complete the cleaning process. If traces of the paste remain over time it can attack components and plaque by corroding them. Anyway, use the folder only when needed.
