This circuit was obtained in a 1991 Electronics Handbook. The publication no longer exists, but this circuit can still be assembled, since integrated circuits 4017 and 741 are still common. The circuit generates signals whose waveforms are determined by the settings of the potentiometers. The frequency is applied from an external circuit, a CMOS oscillator, for example. The supply can be done with voltages between 5 and 12 V.
