The circuit in the figure is suggested by Linear Technologies (www.linear.com) and consists of a system that converts the energy generated by a piezoelectric transducer into an externally adjustable direct voltage. This circuit can be used to convert the vibration of a machine into a power supply voltage for a sensor or control circuit. An interesting application is in powering pressure sensor circuits in vehicle tires where the vibration itself is converted into energy to power the wireless circuit. The output voltages can be selected between 1.8 V and 3.6 V. More information can be obtained on the company's website where the datasheet is available for download.
