This 2004 circuit is based on the ionization effect that occurs in old incandescent lamps with powers above 100 W (no longer manufactured). The high voltage comes from a common old TV flyback in which 4 to 10 turns of common wire are wrapped around the exposed part of the ferrite core. The TIP32 must be mounted on a good heat sink.
