We present a different voltage regulator that is based on a transconductance operational amplifier. It must be supplied with a symmetrical source and the main characteristic is the low voltage drop in the circuit. The output voltage depends on the zener and the reference. Transistor Q1 is selected according to the desired current. For 1 A, the base resistor remains at 1 k ohms and the transistor can be a TIP31 mounted on a good heat radiator.
