Only two transistors are used in this preamp for low-sensitive transducers, such as guitar and guitar pickups, microphones and other audio applications. The power can be removed from the equipment with which it will operate, since the current required is a few milliamps and thus does not affect its operation. The signal input wires must be short or shielded, and the BC549 transistor is recommended for its low noise level. The output signal level reaches 1 Vpp for a 100 uV input signal.
