An interesting timer is shown in the figure, using one of the 4 NAND gates of the integrated 4001. The relay is of general use RU 101 012 with 12 V coil voltage and must be excited by a transistor. The timer activation time is given by capacitor C1, which can have values between 1 uF and 100 uF. Higher values depend a lot on the quality of the capacitors used.
